Chef Phil Gormley a longtime Smithville resident discovered his culinary passion while attending a youth culinary program as early as elementary school. He then pursued the craft throughout high school by attending Vo-Tech at Delaware Valley.  Afterwards he attended Atlantic Cape Communities accredited Culinary program. 

Upon graduation he worked at myriad of concepts within the field that ranged from corporate to family owned.  His achievements include, assisting in the openings of 4 Bonefish Grills, Bills Barand Burger and Sammy D’s at Harrah's Resort, as well as operate Harrah's award winning Waterfront Buffet.  His mentors include Robert Levenson (Executive Chef Resorts), Robert Schoell (Executive Chef Harrah's), Anthony Amoroso (winner on Iron Chef and an accredited Executive Chef).  He has also traveled many times to France, Spain, Italy, England and Mexico to hone his culinary senses abroad and to diversify his culinary acumen. 

He is supported by his wife Samantha, a business owner and a tenured employee at Harrah's Resort restaurant, and his young son Elijah. Chef Phil has recently joined the family at the Smithville Inn and is excited to fulfill his lifelong dream of running a restaurant in his hometown.
